What is Fantasy Badminton League?
Fantasy Badminton League is a game in which gamers assemble an imaginary team of real life badminton players and score points based on those players’ actual result of the tournaments.
As the badminton manager of the game, you are given an imaginary budget of $100 Million at your disposal to buy players for your team consisting of two men’s singles players, two women’s singles players, two groups of men’s doubles players, two groups of women’s doubles players and two group of mixed doubles players.
The players that you buy in this game are the actual top badminton players that you are familiar with in real life, for example, Kento Momota and Viktor Axelsen. Your selection of players in your team will earn points based on how well they perform at the actual international tournaments in real life.
The team that finishes the season with the highest points will be crowned as the Champion of Fantasy Badminton League.
How to PlayYou pick players that you think will perform well in the upcoming real life tournament and your players earn you points by winning matches in the tournament. After a tournament ends, all points that your players have earned will be added together. The team that gets the most points at the end of the tournament year/season will be crowned as the Champion of the Fantasy Badminton League.
Note: In the interest of fair play, each person can only register one team. You may enter this team in multiple leagues and compete against different groups of friends.
Rules
Competition
There are a total of 5 events to be competed in Fantasy Badminton League:
1) Men’s Singles
2) Men’s Doubles
3) Women’s Singles
4) Women’s Doubles
5) Mixed Doubles
Selecting Your Initial Team
Select a fantasy badminton team of 10 representatives to compete in all 5 events. The team must consist of:
2 x Men’s Singles Representative
2 x Men’s Doubles Representative
2 x Women’s Singles Representative
2 x Women’s Doubles Representative
2 x Mixed Doubles Representative
Budget
The total value of your initial team must not exceed $100 million.
Representative per Country
You can buy/select a maximum of 3 representatives from the same country in your team. Double Players representatives that are made up of different countries are not bound by this rule.
Managing Your Team
Choose Your Starting 5 Representative
From your 10 representatives, select a representative for each of the 5 events by the Match Week (MW) deadline to form your team.
All your points for the Match Week (MW) will be scored by these 5 representatives. The backup / substitutes will not get any points (unless they got substituted in automatically as a result of any of the starting 5 representatives not participating in the tournament).
Selecting a Captain
From your starting 5 representatives, choose a captain. Your captain’s score will be doubled for that Match Week (MW).
Substitutions
Your substitutes provide cover for unforeseen events like the withdrawal of players* before the actual tournament starts by automatically replacing the starting players who don't play in a Match Week (MW).
Playing in a Match Week (MW) means the player(s)’ name appearing in the main draw (round 1) of the tournament.
Based on the events, automatic substitutions are processed at the end of the Match Week (MW) as follows:
- If your Men’s Singles Player doesn't play in the Match Week (MW), he will be substituted by your replacement Men’s Singles Player (not other event categories), if the replacement did play in the Match Week (MW). Same logic applied to other event categories.
* For example, if player A withdraws at the last minute before round 1 match is played and there is no replacement for his/her spot for the round, player A is considered as a match lost and will not be substituted since his/her name appears on the main draw.
Transfers
After selecting your team, you can buy and sell players in the transfer market. Unlimited transfer can be made at no cost until your first deadline.
After your first deadline, you will receive 1 free transfer each Match Week (MW). Each additional transfer you make in the same Match Week (MW) will deduct 5 points from your total score at the start of the next Match Week (MW). Alternatively, you can opt to pay 1 Badminton Credit (BC) for an additional transfer without points deduction.
If you do not use your free transfer, you cannot carry this transfer over to the next Match Week (MW). you can never have more than 1 Free transfer per Match Week (MW).
Player Prices
Player prices change during the season dependent on the performance of the player.
Badminton Credits (BC)
You can purchase Badminton Credit to get access to additional features in this game such as additional transfer. Each Match Week (MW), you get 1 free transfer. But to make additional transfers on the same Match Week (MW), you can pay 1 Badminton Credit (BC) and redeem the badminton credit for an additional transfer without points deduction. You can check the cost of Badminton Credit on the page.
Please note that Badminton Credits (BC) IS NOT Transfer Budget and cannot be converted to your Transfer Budget.
Match Week Deadline
All changes to your team (starting 5 representatives, captain changes, transfers) must be made by the Match Week deadline in order to take effect for that set of matches.
Deadlines are subject to change and will be updated at the top of the Line Up page.
Tournaments included in the game are listed in the Fixtures calendar here. These tournaments are chosen from BWF Events (from BWF Tour Super 300 to Super 1000, Olympic and World Tour Finals)
Scoring
Your players will be allocated points for every match they won starting from Round 1 of the tournament. Matches won in the qualifying rounds will not be counted.
If a player wins the match due to the withdrawal of the opponent (with no replacement) or a bye, points will still be allocated to that player.
